KELLY CLARKSON'S 'MR KNOW IT ALL' PLAGIARIZES STEVIE WONDER'S 'LIVING FOR THE CITY' ?
Here's something diffrent, instead of recycling an old song or album i thought i would grill KELLY CLARKSON, who i have to acknowledge is an international superstar having released a string of multi-platinum albums since winning American Idol in 2002. I got nothing against some degree of angst in any sort of music, because angst reflects emotiveness and real life experience.
In terms of songwriting, any genuine artist who is true to themself wont sugarcoat their lyrics to make a song sound more appealing or politically correct, and KELLY CLARKSON is certainly not guilty of that.
She simply is a bitter, angry woman with a chip on her shoulder who takes the whole 'you done me wrong' theme in her songwriting way too far. The first single off her latest album STRONGER, MR. KNOW IT ALL, dynamically is actually a good song, albeit i suspect a bit plageuristic, but i will get to that issue in a sec.
The other single off STRONGER titled WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU absolutely and positively gives me the shits. Unlike MR. KNOW IT ALL, which at least can boast having an intense R&B funk melody, this song is really nothing more than an anti-men ramble, and CLARKSON cant even hit the high notes properly in the latter part of the song.
Getting back to MR. KNOW IT ALL, coincidence or not, i can help but notice an uncanny similarity with this song to the STEVIE WONDER song LIVING FOR THE CITY, off his definitive 70`s album INNERVISIONS. Are we talking plagiarism or are my ears simply going a bit wonky? By all means tell me what you think.

Im a Kelly fan so I may be biased BUT... . There are critics to Kelly Clarkson's music but be objective. Some say she bashes men too much - IF you take her songs literally. Sure, some are directly toward that man that hurt her but often enough they are metaphors. STRONGER the song is enjoyed by many who recovered from many tragedies ie love, illness, etc. She received an ASCAP songwriters award for BECAUSE OF YOU, which she wrote at 16 about her parents divorce. As youv'e said she's got a string of multi-platinum albums and which BILLBOARD has recognized her seventy-three #1 singles across its formats but somehow critics focus on a fraction of her "anti-men" songs. And you may be the first critic, if being objective, to EVER say that Kelly couldn't hit a note.
