ANNA NALICK PERFORMS 'BREATHE (2AM)' ON THE STREETS OF NYC
A girl by the name of Jianna Rosee from Rhode Island in the US requested i write something about ANNA NALICK and her signature song BREATHE (2AM). To be perfectly honest, i had never heard of Nalick before Jianna and i chatted on Twitter, the native Californian started her recording career with the 2005 album WRECK OF THE DAY, the song BREATHE (2AM) being the lead off single from it. After the release of the EP mini album SHINE in 2008, featuring the new song SHINE and a cover of the RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS song BREAKING THE GIRL, and an acrimonious split with her Sony subsiduary record label in 2009, it would take another two years for the long awaited and procrastinated release of her second full length album, BROKEN DOLL & ODDS & ENDS. Without having listened to any of her music besides BREATH (2AM), i wont try and be the music critic here and make a overall judgement of her two albums, but at the very least i must say she has good taste in musical influences, she has cited Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin, Billie Holiday, U2 and Stevie Ray Vaugan to be amongst her biggest influences. Nalick is an accomplished guitar and piano player besides being a fluent singer, to my mind in the JONI MITCHELL mould. Here Nalick is performing BREATHE (2AM) on the streets of New York City outside the FOX music studio. The break of six years between albums obviously didn't help Nalick maintain career momentum, the following she has built on the back of BROKEN DOLL can only be consolidated with a more hurried third album.
