THE BEATLES PAYED BUDDY HOLLY THE ULTIMATE COMPLIMENT

THE BEATLES have never featured on here, i guess i have never felt the need to spruik a band which will get millions of You Tube readers with or without Tim Badrick and Lost Treasures Review. The truth is i am not a big Beatles fan, that might come as a surprise to many, considering their immense popularity and influence on other musical acts, but if it's of any consolation to Beatles fans who read my blog, i am not a big fan of 50`s and 60`s British music across the board. Honest to goodness, i rate EXILE ON MAIN STREET as the first 'decent' Rolling Stones album, though i will say their signature 60`s tune JUMPING JACK FLASH is probaly my favourite Stones song, i dont mind the early Beatles recordings, including the psychedelically tainted REVOLVER, but apart from COME TOGETHER, REVOLUTION and a few other songs, i really cant stomach any post Sergeant Peppers Beatles. To me, the British rock revolution was started by LED ZEPPELIN and FREE, not THE BEATLES or THE ROLLING STONES, which is quite a controversial statement to make given millions will disagree with me the moment i post this blog. Some of the earliest Beatles recordings before they made the big time are really quite authentic and quite a good imitation of american rock'n'roll. In comparison to the atrocious cover of NOT FADE AWAY which quite incredibly was half responsible for putting the ROLLING STONES on the map, THE BEATLES done BUDDY HOLLY proud with this cover of his most famous song, THAT'LL BE THE DAY. Not as good as Buddy but then again they didn't have the immaculate recording studio in Clovis, New Mexico that Holly had. THE BEATTLES were in fact THE QUARRYMEN at this stage, and from what i can recall, the drummer in this video is the most famous drummer in history - Pete Best. Famous for being the drummer who got booted out of the most popular band in the history of the world.
