WINO - ALCHOHOLIC ANTHEM BY LYNYRD SKYNYRD
Taken off the very first LYNYRD SKYNYRD recording, MUSCLE SHOALS SESSIONS, the blistering and rudimentary heavy rock guitar classic WINO is an absolute blast, with lyrics tailor made for those who like their booze.
I can always hear a lot of THE WHO influence with LYNYRD SKYNYRD, basically they were a boisterous southern rock band from the United States that at least in the very early days of the band, like around '74 when the Muscle Shoals recordings took place, incorporated the incendiary guitar style of Pete Townsend and punk attitude of Who vocalist Roger Daltry into the band's otherwise workmanlike sound.
MUSCLE SHOALS is an awesome album, recorded with a shoestring budget and sounding mighty unpolished it's still an awesome listen. Half a dozen of the 18 songs which eventually were released on the Muscle Shoals Sessions album were re-recorded and /or given a polish and released on 'official' LYNYRD SKYNYRD albums during the mid to late 70`s, WINO might have been one of them, but i'm not quite sure.
But I know one thing, the video above is WINO as heard on Muscle Shoals, and to boot it's straight off the turntable, still nothing like hearing good old rock'n'roll on a piece of vinyl.
