MURDER IN THE SKY - GARY MOORE NEVER SOUNDED MORE FEROCIOUS
Pardon me for the below average standard of this video clip, it is the only one i could find featuring the full version of the GARY MOORE song MURDER IN THE SKIES, which i rate as the greatest heavy rock guitar song of the 80`s.
Released off the 1983 album VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE, this is a blistering piece of air guitar shred, the best of its kind since the first VAN HALEN album in 1978.
Moore, who passed alway tragically in February, 2011 after suffering a major heart attack after a drinking binge while on holiday in Spain, often let himself down in the vocal department, but quite often he compensated for his poor singing with performances like this and other air guitar epics like ALL MESSED UP.
His biggest mistake was not joining celtic hard rock band THIN LIZZY on a full time basis when he had the chance, nothing against SCOTT GORHAM, the mainstay guitarist in that band, but Moore was simply the best hard rock guitarist to ever come out of Ireland. RUN FOR COVER (1985) was Moore's best hard rock album, not including his 90`s blues recordings which i rate very highly.
VICTIMS OF THE FUTURE was less refined but arguably his definitive hard rock album. The lyrics of MURDER IN THE SKY elude to the common 80`s theme of war games between the United States and the U.S.S.R.
