DONT TREAD ON ME IS THE CLOSEST THING TO PARTY ROCK IN THE METALLICA CATALOGUE

LARS ULRICH and JAMES HETFIELD might not like me doing this that much, considering their opposition to any form of 'free downloading' of METALLICA songs on the internet, but i thought what the heck, if Lars or James has a problem with me promoting one of their lesser known songs by using You Tube to do so then they dont know what real problems are. DONT TREAD ON ME is one of the most playful Metallica songs ever recorded, it comes off the band's definitive 1991 'Black Album'. Drumming wise it's fairly formulic and uninspiring stuff on the part of Ulrich, but James and his lead guitar colleague KIRK HAMMETT were having fun on this song and together they created a great piece of twin air guitar assault. DONT TREAD ON ME is definitely the closest thing to party rock in the Metallica catalogue.
