CLARENCE GATEMOUTH BROWN AND FRIENDS LIVE IN AUSTIN

CLARENCE GATEMOUTH BROWN is one of my favourite blues artists, known for his immaculate cowboy attire on stage and slightly avante garde style of Texas blues, he rates alongside the late JOHN LEE HOOKER as being one of the most original and eccentric african-american's to play the blues. John Lee had some of the most bizarre and uncopyable time signatures of any american bluesman, so much so that many backing bands and session musicians passed up the oppurtunity to record and play live with him. Gatemouth Brown on the other hand has never had such problems, with an endless supply of backing musicians and session players always eager to perform and record with him. Gatemouth Brown even had the oppurtunity to perform on stage with CARLOS SANTANA and other big name blues artists at the Montreux Blues Festival on one occasion, resulting in a brilliant live DVD and album. On this occasion, Gatemouth Brown is playing a live gig in Austin, Texas, and the song BORN IN LOUISIANA brings out the best in Gatemouth's New Orleans sounding backing band. He passed away in 2005 at the grand age of 81.
