THE DARKNESS HAVE GIVIN' UP GIVIN' A FOCK

THE DARKNESS album PERMISSION TO LAND is not exactly TOYS IN THE ATTIC or VAN HALEN 1978, but it is a funny and satire filled album of double entendre and all round larrakinism that despite its tinny production and lack of musical brilliance is still a great party album.

I believe the band has released other albums, but PERMISSION TO LAND anyway has a very distinctive sound, THE DARKNESS seem to have a very unique blend of musical influences, like a mix of classic STATUS QUO with 70`s AEROSMITH, topped off with a slice of occa australian pub rock, like the CHOIRBOYS.

The album's big UK hits included GROWING ON ME and I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOVE, the first one being a soft ballady tune, the second one much more uptempo. BLACK SHUCK, the opening track, is one of the most viewed on You Tube, but for a good belly laugh, as long as you can handle the F word being sung in a completely self depreciating and unoffensive manner, here is GIVIN' UP.
