FOREIGNER HAD SOME INSIDE INFORMATION

Having just wasted over half an hour trying but failing to download my favourite track off the 1987 FOREIGNER album INSIDE INFORMATION, in the end i just gave up. For some reason a lot of songs on You Tube dont want or have been blocked to being downloaded to Blogger. The song COUNTING EVERY MINUTE has been downloaded to my Twitter page, which is Tim (Timmy) Badrick, so if you want a listen then take a dare and visit my Twitter page (laugh). I just couldn't be bothered wasting my time trying to download it onto my Lost Treasures tonight, it's the first time ever i have written a blog but directed my readers to my Twitter page to view a video. INSIDE INFORMATION was the third of the 80`s albums recorded by FOREIGNER, at a time when the relationship between vocalist LOU GRAMM and guitarist MICK JONES, the two artistic lynchpins in FOREIGNER, had fractured to the point of deep seated resentment and hostility. GRAMM had already recorded his first solo album READY OR NOT when the time came for FOREIGNER to record INSIDE INFORMATION, the atmosphere in the studio during the recording sessions for the album were said to be terse, clinical and lacking any light hearted banter to break the ice between the marginalised Gramm and the other three members of the band at that stage, Jones, bass guitarist RICK WILLS and drummer DENNIS ELLIOTT. Gramm effectively was a guest when he turned up to the studio to record with the other three, he wasn't even really a member of the band anymore. Given the deeply acrimonious circumstances, it's a miracle FOREIGNER 'manufactured' the album they did. I personally rate INSIDE INFORMATION as being better than the somewhat muddled but much more commercially successful AGENT PROVOCATEUR album in 1984, which contained the epic ballad I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS. In fact, three songs off INSIDE INFORMATION i like more than anything on the hugely popular 4 album from 1981. COUNTING EVERY MINUTE and BEAT OF MY HEART was the best 12-bar boogie Jones had whipped up since the late 70`s, while the power ballad CANT WAIT is the second best Foreigner ballad behind I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS. The hit single SAY YOU WILL is not as crappy as what many music critics made it out to be, but the three songs i just mentioned are better. The title track is a bit ordinary, you would probaly rate it as one of the weakest tracks. A NIGHT TO REMEMBER is a great classic rock closing track, OUT OF THE BLUE is the album's tearjerker, a bit too formulic, but not sickeningly melodramatic like the song DOWN ON LOVE off AGENT PROVOCATEUR.
