LOU GOSSETT JR. EMBROILED IN CONTROVERSY DURING THE FILMING OF IRON EAGLE

 

The filming of the 1986 action air force movie IRON EAGLE created a lot of controversy which has never been exposed until now. 

Co-star LOU GOSSETT JR, who at the time of the filming was rumoured to be having an affair with a much younger OPRAH WINFREY, got absolutely smashed on the Guinness this one particular day at Universal Studios in LA and decided he wanted to fly an air force jet for real, and not just a dummy one being used for filming. 

Quite bizarrely, GOSSETT JR. hopped in a VW Beetle and drove to the nearest air force military base, in Orange County just out of LA. 

The guy was blotto, he was stumbling and barely able to walk, but somehow or another he managed to get through security at the military base entrance, drive through two other checkpoints, and then somehow or another sneak into a hangar and take off unauthorised in an air force jet. 

GOSSETT JR. ended up crashing the thing into the Pacific Ocean, but not before he managed to hit the eject button and get out alive. 

The whole affair has always been hushed up, the Pentagon decided not to pursue GOSSETT JR. for his drunken escapade. Why's that you might ask?

Because Gossett Jr. had in fact broken into the air force base being used to film TOP GUN, and it was only a replica jet made out of scrap metal. He bought JERRY BRUCKHEIMER a carton of piss and all was forgotten about.
