FLEETWOOD MAC LIVE WITH A TUNE OFF TUSK
With in-house infidelity and substance abuse wreaking havoc and tearing the band apart at the seams, by the time FLEETWOOD MAC recording the highly experimental 1979 album TUSK, it was really a one man band.
TUSK is dominated by guitarist LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM, whereas the band's watershed release RUMOURS was a songwriters duel between STEVIE NICKS and CHRISTINE MCVIE the best songs on TUSK were written by the very talented guitarist /singer.
The title track was written by Buckingham and is one of the more shining moments on the album for drummer MICK FLEETWOOD, with its famous marching band drum beat.
Three other tracks off TUSK that were also written by Buckingham which I rate as superb is the bluesy WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU'RE THE ONE, WALK A THIN LINE and my absolute favourite Buckingham tune, besides his latter day solo interpretation of BIG LOVE, NOT THAT FUNNY.
It barely lasts three minutes on TUSK, but this live performance of NOT THAT FUNNY, recorded in Los Angeles sometime in 1982, extends it just a tad, well around seven minutes to be precise.
By 1982, cocaine and backstage groupies had wreaked even more damage on the band, but amongst the haze, FLEETWOOD MAC still managed to put on some amazing live performances.
