IT'S A SHAME MAHALIA BARNES CANT SHED THE DAUGHTER OF JIMMY BARNES TAG

It's a shame MAHALIA BARNES, daughter of australian rock legend JIMMY, continues to be snubbed and written off as a wannabe incarnation of her father.

Even though she has the ability, perhaps as yet an unrealised one, to be a great soul singer in the tradition of ARETHA FRANKLIN, ETTA JAMES and even modern day divas like the UK's ADELE and american JESSICA FERGUSON, the latter of which I absolutely adore.

Fair enough, Mahalia Barnes at this stage might not have the vocal range of the great soul singers, but like Jimmy she sings from the heart and given the right material, like some slowed down blues or lounge jazz in place of traditional rambling kind of R&B soul, she most likely would move up to the next level and make better use of her voice.

Mahalia has basically been marginalised by the Australian music establishment and some jealous australian musicians as being nothing more than a glorified karaoke performer. She deserves a lot better deal from the music industry in Australia than she has received to date.
