BAD GIN BY BLUE RUIN DOESN"T SOUND LIKE JUSTIN BIEBER
It's a case of pot luck for the late 80`s australian band BLUE RUIN that i am writing this blog. My DELL laptop computer is positively ratshit, some weeks ago i got hit big time by a spyware attack when i somewhat naively opened a suspicious message on Twitter. Since then it's been a gradual decline to the point whereby tonight i cant even as much as log onto Twitter without freezing my computer up, i cant log into Hotmail and i can barely log into my Google account and Wordpress account for my two websites. I will be shopping around for another computer in the next couple of days. The only reason i am writing a blog about BLUE RUIN is because the embed code to upload their song BAD GIN off You Tube is the only one i had saved in my Blogger edit program, my computer wont allow me to open up any more than one screen at a time without it freezing up, so what the heck i thought i may as well publish the thing. North of Toogoolawah on the way up to Kingaroy there is a small hamlet, wont call it a town, called MOORE. There ain't much at MOORE, not even a pub. Only a snack bar and a coffee shop, as well as a produce, all side by side. A few months ago when i was driving up to BLACKBUTT, which is before you get to KINGAROY, i thought i`d pull over and have a coffee at MOORE. The name of the coffee shop is called KAI LOUNGE, the girl running it, Ali, a former Melbournian, has decorated the wall behind the counter with an array of music posters - promotional posters, concert posters, the works, of so many mostly obscure and/or forgotten about bands and solo artists, mainly from Australia, and mainly from many years ago. Even the best of us (laugh) can get writers block at times trying to think of musicians/bands to write about, so i asked Ali for a pen and paper and i copied down many of the names on all these posters and flyers. The band BLUE RUIN was one of them. Not the least bit familiar with the band, they were a Melbourne based band around the late 80`s and the turn of the 90`s. Judging by this song, BAD GIN, i would describe their sound as somewhat like PSEUDO ECHO and the new romantic english pop of the 80`s meets Stevie Ray Vaughan, although dont get me wrong, i am not suggesting the guitarist in BLUE RUIN knows a thing about playing Texas blues. But the song BAD GIN isn't terrible and it doesn't sound anything like JUSTIN BIEBER, so its probaly safe to listen to (laugh).
