'SHE'S GOT THE MONEY' YOUNG MODERN WORTH SALVAGING
YOUNG MODERN , a seminal late 70`s australian rock act, was cited by a number of australian bands during the 80`s as being a major influence. With influences ranging from the early Beatles, The Dave Clark Five and early 70`s art rock with just a slight hint of 1977 brit punk thrown in, YOUNG MODERN recorded one album of somewhat hairy and underproduced pop rock in 1978 called PLAY FASTER. The biggest shame about PLAY FASTER is that it sounds too busy and complicated when a more sparcer arrangment would have let the lyrics breath, instead of being drowned out by the unfocused pots and pans rhythm section. I'll let you look up the band and see who was in it, but i can tell you the lead singer was a fair bit older than the other band members. Three songs are not too bad, THE BIG BEAT, AUTOMATIC and my pick of them all - SHE'S GOT THE MONEY. Sadly YOUNG MODERN didn't make it past 1979.
