SYD BARRETT GOT TRAMPLED BY AN EFFERVESCING ELEPHANT
It's never been questioned, despite starting out as the charismatic lead singer and lead guitarist of progressive rock supergroup PINK FLOYD in the late 1960`s, SYD BARRETT ended up going absolutely bananas and already by the mid 70`s was living a reclusive life as a hermit, while his former bandmates and DAVID GILMOUR who replaced him went on to conquer the stratosphere of global superstardom with huge selling albums like DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, WISH YOU WERE HERE and THE WALL.
Despite Pink Floyd's monumental success in the 70`s, there were times when the band could have really done with a shot of Barrett's pantomine approach to singing and songwriting, something ROGER WATERS never was quite able to replicate. Most definitely Floyd's best moments were always those rare occasions when DAVID GILMOUR got jack of being under the artistic thumb of ROGER WATERS and let loose on his guitar.
After quiting (or being chucked out of) Pink Floyd, SYD BARRETT cobbled together a couple of albums in his hallucinogenic mind, and this eccentric little tune called EFFERVESCING ELEPHANT, which you can even play for the kids (laugh), proves that Barrett was really up there with Lucy in the Sky of Mind Altering Diamonds.
