ASHLEIGH CREIGHTON FROM PHOENIX, ARIZONA ISN'T ALMOST BEAUTIFUL - SHE IS BEAUTIFUL
It's been many months since i got the feeling that i unearthed a real lost treasure, a great talent laying in obscurity just waiting to score some luck and make the big time. That's the feeling i got after one listen to ASHLEIGH CREIGHTON from Arizona and her demo rendition of her original composition ALMOST BEAUTIFUL. Ashleigh started following me just a few days ago on Twitter, the truth is i would never have heard of her without it. One instance where social media allowed something very good to happen. She has been around playing and recording music since around 2007, not sure what albums she has released to date, a Google search of her name only turns up ambiguity there, but ALMOST BEAUTIFUL is a demo from last year so i am figuring it comes off her most recent album. I would definitely like to hear more of her music, Ashleigh classes herself as pop, i know it's sounds like a bit of a cliche considering she's a girl with an acoustic guitar but she reminds me a lot of JONI MITCHELL, but more soulful and less folky than the canadian folk rock legend. There's a lot of complexity in the song ALMOST BEAUTIFUL, a lot of conflicting elements giving it a muddled but soothing atmosphere. I am guessing Alanis Morrisette and the Dixie Chicks might also rate high in Ashleigh's list of biggest influences.
