TRAVIS MEEKS UNPLUGGED PERFORMING 'SHELF IN THE ROOM'

TRAVIS MEEKS of the alternative acoustic rock band DAYS OF THE NEW has found a new lease of artistic life after years of destructive substance abuse and over the past year has performed numerous concerts with just him and his guitar playing old DAYS OF THE NEW songs better than they've ever sounded before. Amazing what not having crystal meth in the bloodstream has done for Meeks. I am not one of his roadies or his best mate, so for all i know he might still have the occasional dance with the weed but it would appear obvious that Meeks is no longer the burned out beyond salvation junkie he was as recent as the early to mid 2000`s. This performance of the DAYS song SHELF IN THE ROOM is as rudimentary as it gets, live at a US radio station by himself and clearly lacking good acoustic surroundings to capture his meandering but exquisite guitar picking. Written off by many music critics as a 90`s alternative rock dinosaur and a second generation Neil Young, Meeks has marginalised himself as a minority appeal act by performing predominantly DAYS OF THE NEW SONGS in place of new material with a new band, the wisest move he could make now is to shed the alternative Young-Cobain image he has attained over the past 15 years and move towards a more mainstream country and/or folk direction. I think he's a very talented guy who just needs to make his music a little bit more radio friendly and melodic. No one is saying Meeks should sound like BOSTON but he needs to leave DAYS OF THE NEW in the past just for starters.
