MISO KOVAC TI SI PJESMA MOJE DUSE A GREAT ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS CAROL
It was never intended to be a christmas carol but in place of many of the traditional recognised ones like JINGLE BELLS, OH CHRISTMAS TREE, DECK THE HALLS and others like them which are not of a religeous nature i would place the MISO KOVAC song TI SI PJESMA MOJE DUSE in the same awe inspiring 'gospel' category as hymns such as OH HOLY NIGHT and HARK THE HERALD ANGELS SING. Many non-believers slate christmas carols as being the contrived creation of the Roman pagans centuries after Jesus was on the earth, and to be quite honest, i find that most christmas carols are not particularly that respectful to the real meaning of Christmas. I love half a dozen or so of the more meaningful Christmas carols including the two mentioned above, but songs like TI SI PJESMA MOJE DUSE are just the sort of songs i would play alongside my favourite recognised Christmas carols without even making any sort of a distinction. This song was featured previously on Lost Treasures but before my You Tubing days, it was in fact a song written for and performed by WILLIE NELSON and RAY CHARLES in the early 80`s, i didn't tell you that last time because i didn't know until now. Even though the craggly faced and pony tailed Nelson and late blind soul pianist didn't write the song Kovac's recording of the song in his native Croatian officially has to be regarded as a cover song, not an original. It really dont matter to me, it's Christmas Day, and its an uplifting feel good song, even if like me you cant understand one word being sung by Kovac and his backing singers.
