RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS WERE FED UP WITH BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK SO THEY WENT ABOUT SAVING THE POPULATION

Okay I admit, the RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS had four or five totally groovy and classic songs off the multi-platinum 1991 album BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK, but give me a break, even though FLEA occasionally invented one of the most hypnotic bass lines imaginable and CHAD SMITH was one the best replacement drummers in any band of all time, the RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS have still always been immensely overrated.

To be honest most of their songs post-BSSM bore me to tears, two-thirds of their songs even irritate me, but i really dig the last track on their 2003 greatest hits album called SAVE THE POPULATION. I think what makes it better than any other post-BSSM song, besides the brilliant funk rock of THE ADVENTURES OF RAIN DANCE MAGGIE, which was released a couple of years ago, is it's stripped down and concise dynamics.

Unlike most Chilli Peppers songs, it is not muddled and made to sound too busy like far too many RHCP songs always did. Led Zeppelin proved you could perform an acoustic song and still entertain a hard rock audience, the Chilli Peppers should have adopted that approach a lot more often over the tears. But when the band stuck to pure funk rock, without mixing punk and alternative into the mix, they really could deliver some great rhythm and blues.
