DWEEZIL ZAPPA CAUSED AN ERUPTION IN PHOENIX AFTER HE TURNED INTO EDDIE VAN HALEN
DWEEZIL ZAPPA, son of the late FRANK ZAPPA, the original alternative rocker in many people's eyes, has always remained in the shadow of his father's legacy and has generally failed to develop his own musical identity. Even amongst his own guitar playing peers Dweezil has been the victim of comparisons being made between father and son, to the point where he may as well retire from songwriting and stick to performing his father's songs on tour for a living. I have only just discovered the music of DWEEZIL ZAPPA, be it originals or covers they are not for the casual pop fan, nor are they recognisable. But there is one exception i discovered, Dweezil performing a cover of the legendary guitar solo ERUPTION off the very first VAN HALEN album at a live Phoenix gig in 2009. Not quite as good as Eddie Van Halen but i tell you what - he gives it a good shot. The worst thing about this video clip is the talkathon introduction, you just want Dweezil to shut up and get on with it.
