PER GESSLE AND MARIE FREDRIKSSON'S 1991 JOYRIDE GOT THEM BOTH VERY EXCITED
A completely overlooked track off the JOYRIDE album in 1991, (DO YOU GET) EXCITED? was the perfect blend of pop and euro soft metal for ROXETTE, Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson broke onto the international music scene in 1988 by a pure stroke of luck and good fortune, after a DJ at a small time radio station in the United States played a 'demo' of THE LOOK. It was given to him by an american who by pure chance discovered ROXETTE while in Europe and thought they had something special. From the moment THE LOOK hit the regional airwaves in america, the can of worms of international stardom was opened, following the swedish duo's first english album THE LOOK in 1989, which is characterised by a lush and layered pop sound totally highly reminiscent of ABBA, and a massive world tour, ROXETTE returned in 1991 with the much more rock orientated JOYRIDE. Plenty of great pop and pop metal songs off the album, this song should have been a lead-off single but to my better knowledge it was never released as a single. (DO YOU GET) EXCITED is the greatest unintentional effort in the history of music to incorporate the atmospheric pop sound of ABBA with the euro post grunge soft metal swagger of EFFERVESCENCE.

Marie is an awesome singer, she was affected badly there for a while when she had to retire from public performing due to having a brain tumor, her recovery slow but eventually full has left her with somewhat less ease of range compared to her effortless high notes prior.
