EVENING STAR IS THE BEST OF KENNY ROGERS

Kenny Rogers himself has admitted many times over the years that he wonders what the big fuss is over him and why he is so popular, in various interviews he has basically come out and said that he has a very weak voice. I like honesty in a person and you cant knock Rogers there - he is not a great singer and he is a very ordinary instrumentalist.

But his saving grace has always been the storytelling aspect of his songwriting, his fans like him because they can identify with his tales of barroom shenanigans and life on the road grinding out a hard living as a travelling country musician.

Kenny if you aren't aware is headlining the 2012 GYMPIE MUSTER, with a host of top australian country artists backing up the veteran US superstar. My favourite song of Kenny Rogers besides the immensely popular hit THE GAMBLER is one which is almost impossible to find on any greatest hits compilation of his, not sure why, because it truly is his best song ever.

EVENING STAR is one of my favourite songs to play driving along in the car as i cruise down the highway imagining I am on my way to the Arizona border.
