ON THE ROAD OUTTAKES OF THE TRIXIE WHITLEY 'EXPERIENCE'
After getting a tip off about this womans's amazing ability and innovation as a progressive jazz and blues musician, i recently wrote a blog on the obscure american band which she, the great TRIXIE WHITLEY, recorded an album with in 2010 by the name of BLACK DUB.
I wish i had more time to listen to some new music, unfortunately i haven't had a chance to delve too much further into the BLACK DUB vault since then but just now i was tempted to Google Trixie Whitley to sample a bit of her music.
Given my love of blues jazz and jazz blues, you know, fusion muse which incorporates some jazz singing, trad be-bop and blues guitar, it's no wonder my ears have become wide open listening to some of Whitley's You Tube downloads.
She excels in jazz drumming and playing the keys, she reminds me of Billie Holiday at times, other times Roberta Flack and on the odd occasion i can even hear Eva Cassidy in her voice. Her dry and maximum impact drumming harks back to the style of the late great BUDDY RICH, an american jazz drumming immortal.
While i decide what to do and write about next with this darling and slightly alternative pioneer of progressive jazz/blues whatever the heck you would call her music, here is a video of what appears to be outtakes of live recording snippets of her on tour which have kind of been glued together to create a sampler of her music.
It's not really a song but an experience, pardon me for sounding so cliche. It definitely is far from being the last you'll hear of TRIXIE WHITLEY on Lost Treasures Review.
