SKIPPY THE BUSH KANGAROO NUMBER TWO COULD HAVE DONE WITH A SEX CHANGE

Never living up to the expectations or the innocent charm of the original series, one of the biggest disappointments in the history of australian TV was the revival of SKIPPY in 1992, renamed THE ADVENTURES OF SKIPPY.

One of the biggest problems that so many SKIPPY purists had with the revival series which starred Andrew Clarke and Simon James is the choice of kangaroo used to play the iconic marsupial. Instead of a female kangaroo the producers of the new show amazingly decided to use a male roo which surprise surprise didn't come with a pouch.

Half the fun for kids with the original SKIPPY, which aired in australia between 1966 and 1968 and in the United States & Canada between 1969 and 1972, was watching SKIP use its paws to weave some magic & much of the time hiding things in its pouch.

The original SKIP was intelligent, not to mention a tough old bitch, even falling out of Jerry's chopper or being chased by a puma through Waratah National Park never fazed this critter. It may not seem a big deal but Skippy with balls just never caught on like Skippy with a pouch.
