WINCHESTER REBELS OUT TO BE THE NEXT BIG THING IN HARD ROCK
The good thing about going through an apathetic and lazy stage as a music blog writer is that i am tending to be very choosey what i decide to write about, i must have the same infectious disease as all the very apathetic souls who read my blog and never comment. I am still waiting for someone besides BUDDY WILSON to have a brainsnap and do that (laugh). Yes i have a bit of a fuk it attitude at the moment, so besides my Party Rock series i am only bothering for the time being to post blogs about folks who bother to follow me on Twitter, and a new heavy rock band from Santa Barbara in California called WINCHESTER REBELS is a recent addition. The comments snub with Badrick Unadulterated 2 and when it was known as Lost Treasures Review has been profoundly disappointing for me, but one saving grace in the past year has been the amount of american bands and artists who have touched base with me on Twitter, obviously a vote of confidence in me that i am no slouch when it comes to writing about music. WINCHESTER REBELS has a quite unique sound, far from being just another workmanlike blues based heavy rock outfit the band unashamededly revers alternative metal pioneers ALICE IN CHAINS as a major influence, the AIC song ROOSTER from the 1992 AIC album DIRT being a regular in their live set. The band's debut album THREE SHEETS TO THE WIND certainly bears the mark of the ALICE IN CHAINS influence, especially with the song PRIVATE ANGEL, as well as the proto-metal band BUDGIE from Wales, who were around in the 70`s and early 80`s and who METALLICA have always cited as a major influence. If THREE SHEETS TO THE WIND is any indication, WINCHESTER REBELS have a lot of potential and could well become a great heavy rock band for many years to come.
