ROBERT PLANT AND THE STRANGE SENSATION DO THE TAKUMBA
ROBERT PLANT needs no introduction, the ageing grandfather of hard rock who put stadium blues on the map in the late 60`s fronting LED ZEPPELIN has made a lot of excellent music as a solo artist following Zep's demise in 1980 which should have made a lot greater commercial impact, and his 2005 album MIGHTY REARRANGER, which he recorded with a new backing band at that time going by the name of THE STRANGE SENSATION, to me is Plant's best output since mid 70`s Zep albums like NO QUARTER and the double album epic PHYSICAL GRAFFITI. He may not have had JIMMY PAGE and those meaty and succulent blues riffs to help him out on MIGHTY REARRANGER, but nonetheless it was still a very convincing effort by Plant to re-create the freewheeling experimentation that he conjured up as a member of the Zeps. This album was previously written about on here, but this time i am including a live performance of one of my favorite songs off it titled TAKAMBA. Lyrically it's as ambiguous as a RUSH concept album but it's worth its weight in gold be it only for the jam which THE STRANGE SENSATION crank out here before a small TV studio audience. Robert Plant is wearing a nice suit (laugh).
