LEE KERNAGHAN AND THE BOYS FROM THE BUSH BELONGED TO THE OUTBACK CLUB
I am in a unique position, what might say a frustrating one at times, of being an australian writer with a predominantly american audience. There are plenty of other australian bloggers and on-line journalists who have a much bigger domestic audience than i do, which is the frustrating element for me, but i am quite happy with my healthy readership stats in america. One thing i have going for me is that i am in a position to lob some well known australian musicians into the United States, i kind of feel like a music promoter doing so. LEE KERNAGHAN is one of australia's best known and most loved country music artists, and to boot, he is one of the most genuine blokes you'll ever find in any music establishment. Him and TROY CASSAR-DALEY, who is argubaly the best country musician currently in Australia, are two of the most likable people you'll ever meet. Kernaghan started his recording career way back in 1991 with the debut album THE OUTBACK CLUB, and the first song off the album BOYS FROM THE BUSH remains his most well known song, despite a string of very worthy follow-up albums and single releases. I guess it's probaly because BOYS FROM THE BUSH is so definitively australian, and a song that everyone can sing along with. HIGH COUNTRY is another excellent track off the debut. ELECTRIC RODEO from 2002 is perhaps Kernaghan's best all round album, making it to number 5 on the australian country music chart, with PLANET COUNTRY from 2009 very close behind. Kernaghan is known for his generosity and down to earthness, on many occasions performing free concerts in outback towns around Australia to raise money for charities or appeals. A top guy who is humble and not up himself, and that's the sort of people i like to promote on my website when i can.
