BAKER'S SONG BY BURNING TREE HAS BEEN BURIED FOR 23 YEARS

Going back many months, well probaly more like two and a half years ago, i wrote a blog about the ill fated but sensational american retro rock group BURNING TREE, who recorded one great self titled album 23 years ago in 1990. Formed in 1987 by guitarist MARC FORD, who would go on to become a member of THE BLACK CROWES from that band's second album onwards, and drummer DONI GRAY, the duo become a three piece with the addition of bass guitarist MARK 'MUDDY' DUTTON and would become house band regulars at the COCONUT TEASZER club in Hollywood during the very late 80`s. After securing a record deal with Epic Records at the very end of 1989, the band went to work on recording their one and only release, which turned out to be a ripsnorter of a blues rock album, with a few tracks very much flavoured by some Led Zeppelin status psychedelic riffs. The one song that stands out simply because it's so timid and introspective compared to the rest is BAKER'S SONG, which although you might say is lyrically directionless is still dynamically speaking one of the best songs of 1990. I figured it was worth reprising BURNING TREE to feature BAKER'S SONG on You Tube, which i might add would make a perfect cover song for many a country or country/rock group or artist, given it's obscurity most people would probaly assume it's an original if it was recorded by another group or artist. BURNING TREE to my knowledge did attempt a re-formation around 2006 but i dont believe any new material resulted. The most unique element of BURNING TREE was that all three members took turns in singing lead vocals.
