MICHAEL JACKSON'S SMOOTH CRIMINAL GIVEN AN ALTERNATIVE METAL RESUSCITATION BY ALIEN ANT FARM
An unlikely hit cover song if ever there was one, one that featured in the hit american comedy AMERICAN PIE 2, Alien Ant Farm's cool parody tinged interpretation of Michael Jackson's dance tune SMOOTH CRIMINAL, which was released in 2001, proves the band members weren't about to take themselves seriously, even if brickbats were thrown at them by woozerish music critics who accused the band of making a mockery of Michael Jackson. Not at all to me, ALIEN ANT FARM are not soul pop like Michael Jackson ever was and they basically re-invented the song and made it their own with some Offspring influenced California punk rock pisstakery and a half decent attempt at playing heavy rock guitar. One of the best party rock anthems ever recorded in the 21st century.
