BAY 13 AT THE MCG NEVER BEEN THE SAME SINCE MERV HUGHES AND MEXICAN WAVES WERE GIVEN THE AXE

Ever since the beginning of the 1990`s when political correctness creeped into society and to a great extent normal everyday people were expected to act like expressionless robots and behave like primadonas in a public place, freedom of expression has truly become an endangered species. Even participating in making a mexican wave at a cricket or football match in Australia has been outlawed by the party poopers who do administer these sports because they have deemed it to be disruptive to the game being played and downright anti-social. My opinion is that any sporting authority which outlaws the people who are turning up to watch a match and pay to get through the gate from engaging in some lightheated interaction with other spectators like helping to form a mexican wave is not only grossly overreacting and making a mountain out of molehill but is doing everything possible to turn spectators away in droves. Provided a mexican wave doesn't result in anyone entering the field of play or having cans or bottles being thrown on it or at any players, then i cant see any harm in allowing spectators to form a mexican wave, even if it was only permitted during intervals or lunch breaks during a game. Presently any person who is caught by security for initiating a mexican wave is treated like a common criminal and charged with being a public nuisance, and more than likely, suspended from being able to enter the venue for a certain period of time because of their heinous offence. Fair enough there will always be drunks & yobbos who spoil it for everyone else and they're the sort who most likely originally put the idea into the mind of sports administrators to clamp down on & ban the mexican wave, however the ban imposed on them is over the top and bordering on fascism. With the pin point technology available these days, any state of the art security camera system is capable of syphoning out the drunks & troublemakers from a large crowd at a sporting event from the majority of civilised spectators surrounding them in a short period of time. Knowing how unpredictable intoxicated people can be, i guess the argument against mexican waves hold much weight while a game is in progess, but as a healthy and entirely innocent timefiller law abiding spectators should be allowed to have some mexican wave fun here and there without fearing the police will throw them in the watchhouse for the night.
