MIAMI VICE THE RETRO 20TH CENTURY ANSWER TO BORING 21ST CENTURY FORENSIC COP SHOWS

About time to write about something other than music I thought, and normally I head in the direction of movies when i want to go out on such a tangent.

But tonight I wanted to reminisce a little over my favourite TV cop show as a youngster, MIAMI VICE. Besides formulaic forensic cop shows which are becoming more and more predictable and tiresome all the time, like CSI and CSI MIAMI, there is just no show like MIAMI VICE on the telly in the 21 century.

Even though the lead actors DON JOHNSON and PHILIP MICHAEL THOMAS always dressed like they had come out of a nightclub and MIAMI VICE made glam of real life crime in Miami, the show had an emotional depth and real substance, whose characterisations delved a lot deeper into the lives of SONNY CROCKETT (Johnson) and RICARDO TUBBS (Thomas) than merely chasing a few drug lords through the streets of Miami and shooting at them.

Much of the show's characterisations explored Crockett's and Tubb's oft time tumultuous personal relationships against the backdrop of being plain clothes coppers trying to survive and keep their sanity in one of the world's most dangerous cities.

Along the way of course CROCKETT and TUBBS bedded some very beautiful women in a fit of one night stand passion on their journey of self discovery.

I'll have to write an erotic novel if i keep this up (laugh). Seriously MIAMI VICE was a great 80`s TV show, every episode has a different edge to it and kept you in suspense.

The version of CROCKETT's THEME that comes with this is my favourite, it has a little more razzle dazzle than the first version.

JAN HAMMER is one of my favourite soundtrack musicians, he is one of the greatest keyboard instrumentalists there ever was.
