HARRY MANX GOES OFF WITH THE FAIRIES PLAYING THE TRIPPY 'REUBEN'S TRAIN'
Had to give this guy a run on here, HARRY MANX, the slide guitar banjo slinging experimental blues master who draws heavily on the mystique sounds of the East defies all definition, what he lacks in melodic structure he more than makes for with some of the most innovative improvisation ever recorded in any class of music.
Chose this song, REUBIN'S TRAIN, for two reasons, (1) it's quite obscure even by Manx's standard with his small but very loyal core following and (2), it's almost the perfect song for Manx with its mix of slide guitar and sitar sounding keyboard, courtesy of his bandmate on stage. REUBIN'S TRAIN is really trippy stuff, kind of like a curry flavoured Bob Dylan mixed with Jon Lord of Deep Purple with Chris Rea playing the intro to NOTHING TO FEAR.
