GEORGIA SATELITES LIKE IT SHAKEN NOT STIRRED LIKE JAMES BOND 007

KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF is by far the most well known song from 80`s southern rockers GEORGIA SATELITES, a band that combined the rootsy and gritty dynamics of the ALLMAN BROTHERS, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and even a dash of ZZ TOP on occasions with the blues rock of GEORGE THOROGOOD AND THE DESTROYERS and the swagger and heaviness of AEROSMITH.

Without a doubt, I rate GEORGIA SATELITES as the greatest southern rock band in history, even if not the most consistent. Their best song to me is not KYHTY, acronym for you know what, but the blistering boogie rock of BATTLESHIP CHAINS, which passes for one of the greatest party rockers of all time, up there with any heavy rock epic from Van Halen or Aeromsith. Like KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF, this song comes off the dazzling debut.

Without writing an essay, the band's definitive recording would probably have to be SHAKEN NOT STIRRED, a 1997 album following the bands reformation in 1993 which showcased eight new songs and reprised and juiced up versions of songs off the first three albums.

I have written once previously about GEORGIA SATELITES way back when but I doubt last time I stuck a vid with the blog.

BATTLESHIP CHAINS is classic rock'n'roll, quite possibly the very best rock'n'roll song recorded during the 80`s.
