SONIC CULT REMEMBER THE VICTIMS OF ANDERS BEHRING BREIVIK

Here's a band that really grabs me for being original, inventive and with real introspective lyrical substance that touches the soul and doesn't just sound good to the ears.

SONIC CULT is wholly original because of its multi-national cast of members, lead singer and keyboardist BEN LORENTZEN hails from Norway, whose vocal performance on standout track IMAGINE is nothing short of spine tingling and is backed up by american guitarist and vocalist JOE YOUNG, OSKAR HAGGDAHL from Finland on drums and Malaysian born ROZHAN RAZMAN on bass, with the only female in the group, American MITSURO KUBO, contributing some mezmerizing performances on viola and providing backing vocals.

Every SONIC CULT song I have listened to is rich in emotion and very wordy and narrative, a band which seems to take it cues primarily from bands like COLDPLAY and REM, but with a somewhat less introspective and more anthemic approach, especially for the song IMAGINE.

This song raises the hair on my neck, obviously for Norwegian lead singer BEN LORENTZEN, the words to it convey a very raw and heartfelt meaning about the senseless and shocking massacre on Utoya Island and the inner city bombing in Oslo, Norway which was carried out by the ultra-fundamentalist nutcase ANDERS BEHRING BREIVIK on the 22nd July, 2011.

The video clip to the song includes real time TV footage in the aftermath of Brevik's psychotic rampage, the live in studio contribution by the band to the clip is strangely euphoric, with Lorentzen putting in the lead singer performance of a lifetime.
