CRAZY HORSE STARTED OUT AS THE ROCKETS

Although choosing to settle as being a sans backing band for NEIL YOUNG throughout three decades of occasionally fruitful but overwhelmingly underachieving decades since arriving on the rock scene at the tail end of the 60`s, the seminal alternative grunge band CRAZY HORSE still nonetheless is loved by money alternative purists, the kind who like MUDHONEY more than NIRVANA. The guy who sent me an email requesting this song from THE ROCKETS, which just happens to be CRAZY HORSE before they changed the band's name, tells me he's a huge MUDHONEY fan and he reckons CRAZY HORSE and NEIL YOUNG were the reason why MUDHONEY formed. Sounds like i will have to listen to MUDHONEY now and find out what i have been missing all these years. I hadn't heard of THE ROCKETS either, but yes, it is CRAZY HORSE as they were in 1968, the band only released the one album under THE ROCKETS name, and it only sold 5000 copies. That probaly explains why i haven't ever heard of them (laugh). DANNY WHITTEN on guitar and lead vocals is unmistakable, even if he sounds a bit undercooked here, guess i am use to him strangling his guitar and going ballistic like he did later with CRAZY HORSE.
