THE PRIMITIVES COVER OF SONNY BOY WILLIAMSON'S 'HELP ME'

Thought it was only fair to add a few words to this post, because THE PRIMITIVES cover of the harmonica charged SONNY BOY WILLIAMSON classic HELP ME is probably one of the best pieces of British blues I have ever had the pleasure of discovering. Like so many of their R&B kind coming out of England in the early 60's, by the late 60's THE PRIMITIVES were going nowhere and basically died in the arse after some minor UK chart success with a few of their early recordings.

HELP ME was in fact the band's first single release ever, and the biggest surprise of all might be that JIMMY PAGE contributed some of the guitar featured on the song. Given that the future LED ZEPPELIN rock god was in the mix somewhere it's no wonder that, combined with some absolutely ripsnorting harmonica playing, this song packs a mighty blues punch.
