TEXAS COUNTRY WAYLON JENNINGS STYLE
Recorded on February 17, 1966, this WAYLON JENNINGS song is one of the Nashville outlaw's very best blend of Tennessee country and Texas rockabilly, with an unusual echoey production that evoked the sort of sound which his good friend BUDDY HOLLY pioneered back in the late 50's in NORMAN PETTY's studio.
Rock'n'roll was never far from Jennings' heart even though the death of Holly ripped out his heart in early 1959, along with Holly Texas's own swing king BOB WILLS was a major influences on Jennings, the 1974 song BOB WILLS IS STILL THE KING proof of that. (THATS WHAT YOU GET) FOR LOVING ME is more standard country, it's my favorite song of his from the 1960's era.
