GEORGIA SATELLITES ONE OF THE BEST AMERICAN ROCK`N`ROLL BANDS NEVER TO HIT THE BIG TIME
And the one in my collection which springs to mind more often than any other one is a real cheapy, by a US band which is barely even known of in Australia - THE GEORGIA SATELLITES.
The only reason why I had heard the name of the band was because of their one and only song on the COCKTAIL soundtrack way back in the late 80`s.
Probably about a couple of years ago I was having a look at a cheap CD stand at JB and I recognised the name of the band and invested a cool $8 (wow) in SHAKEN NOT STIRRED, which is the name of one of the songs amongst the sixteen on the album.
The Georgia Satellites are best described as being a cross between George Thorogood blues rock and Aerosmith inspired rock `n`roll, with a marginal 80`s futuristic edge.
Of course there are many nuances of different bands you can pick out in many songs that they recorded but those bands stand out the most in the Georgia Satellite soundscape.
HIPPY HIPPY SHAKE is re-conditioned a bit compared to the version appearing on Cocktail, BATTLESHIP CHAINS is classic heavy riff rock with some totally original sounding keyboard flushes in the mix, in stark contrast to the power chords that they compliment, MY FAULT takes things to a heavier level, as good as anything Zep cooked up after 1975, and GAMES PEOPLE
PLAY, track 1, gets things off to a real
Toys in the Attical beginning.

There is not really a dud on the album, without listening to it for a while I know that SIX YEARS GONE, SLAUGHTERHOUSE and the title track are brilliantly innovative and progressive rock songs, as are the other nine in various doses of excellence.
The album was issued on what I think is a shitty record label tailor made for releasing unofficial best of albums made up of music no one supposedly is interested in.
That label is CMC records, I am not sure if this is a best of album of some kind or an original but the music on it deserves a lot better deal and some critical recognition.
