BE INTRODUCED TO THE ECCENTRIC BRILLIANCE OF IAN ANDERSON AND JETHRO TULL THE ACOUSTIC WAY
If you are more into straightforward hard rock, TULL`s legendary AQUALUNG set from 1972 will always remain the apex, if you like a slightly more eclectic and folky set of songs, THICK AS A BRICK, the album with the somewhat controversial and very elaborate newspaper cover having a young teenage girl showing her underwear, is regarded by most TULL fans as being the only record comparable to AQUALUNG.
THICK AS A BRICK only has two songs that take up one side of an album each.
But along the way, flutist/ guitarist Ian Anderson, along with an ever changing TULL line-up, recorded many great prog-rock songs which did not appear on their two most famous albums.
A good introduction to TULL would be to get a hold of JETHRO TULL - THE BEST OF ACOUSTIC. It is an album featuring the more pastoral and genuinely folky songs in Ian Anderson`s arsenal, being a hard rock fan myself I love AQUALUNG but this collection of obscurities and B-sides is a refreshingly very english affair,
Would have made a great soundtrack to THE ENGLISHMAN WHO WENT UP A HILL AND COME DOWN A MOUNTAIN. Quite commonly available in most music shops but very underated.
