JIM BELUSHI AND THE SACRED HEARTS KEPT THE BLUES BROTHERS FLAME BURNING

For all you Blues Brothers fans out there, you may not be aware that one half of the Blues Brothers team, John Belushi, who died
from an overdose in 1982, had an actor/part time muso brother named Jim.

Well most probably you have heard of Jim Belushi the actor but not the moonlighting blues crooner. I don't know much about Jim`s musical conquests besides what he recorded in 1998 with a band named the SACRED HEARTS.

The name of the album, courtesy of the title track, is 36-22-36, no guessing what the
inspiration was behind the song title. No it`s not a postcode.

No one but Jim touches his woman`s boobies, that is the general message conveyed in the lewd title song.

SMOKIN BLUES tells the tale of a man who will do everything for his woman except give up the durries, dare she try to stop him, in a typically Belushi pisstake kind of way Jim puts a lighthearted slant on tobacco addiction.

THE CHICKEN AND THE HAWK is classic honky tonk piano blues, while the more heavy Chicago style of blues is put to good use on I JUST WANT TO MAKE LOVE TO YOU.

29 WAYS is another piece of subtle satire you`d expect from a relative of John Belushi, while the much covered BORN IN CHICAGO allows the horn section of THE SACRED HEARTS to get right into the swing of it.

There are 4 or 5 fillers on here which don't come anywhere near the Blues Brothers of 1980, but its most probably the closest thing going to re-capturing some of the souped up soul/blues magic which his brother and Ackroyd were made a lot more famous for doing.
