DANCING ON THE EDGE GAVE ROY BUCHANAN SOME WHIPLASH
It took 4 years and 4 months to make it onto my music blog, but my all time favorite instrumental, WHIPLASH, a blistering amalgam of blues and hard rock from the late ROY BUCHANAN, has finally made it here. It comes off his 1986 album on the Alligator label DANCING ON THE EDGE, just a few years prior to his tragic death.
Buchanan never liked singing and he usually opted to playing instrumentals or having 'guests' sing for him on all his albums from the mid 70's onwards. One of his most best vocals ever was for the song BALTIMORE which goes back to the very 70's. He could sing but he could play electric blues a hell of a lot better, as this 3 minute instrumental proves.
