BARNABY JONES PACKED A MIGHTY PI PUNCH FOR AN OLD BUGGER WHO LIKED A GLASS OF MILK

Barnaby Jones had to feature on my website for one simple logical reason, because it would have to be one of the very first memories i have of anything on television.

A much underated TV drama starring Buddy Ebsen as the man with the worst name ever and who was originally a retired private investigator in the storyline, he returned to the PR business with his daughter-in-law Betty, played by Lee Meriwether, to investigate the murder of his son and Betty's husband.

Quite an emotive reason for anyone to come out of retirement to nail a few bad guys. The theme song for Barnaby Jones will always be one of the most recognisable for me, and that van that Barnaby drove around in, almost like he was a dry cleaner and not a private investigator, was completely unmistakable as well each and every time the theme song opened proceedings.

From what I can recall, that makes me sound like a politician doesn't it, the show dared to be diffrent, the complete anti-thesis of gun them all down Dirty Harry and dare I say more traditional TV cop drama type themes. Barnaby Jones was famous for being a tee tottler PI who really liked having a good drink of milk instead of knocking off a bit of the sauce.
