ALEX MURPHY TRANSFORMED INTO ROBOCOP TO EVEN THE SCORE WITH CLARENCE BODDICKER AND OLD DETROIT

So often overlooked in the action movie stakes and seemingly written off as being in the too much 80`s class, in much the same way as the Rambo movies have, Robocop number one remains of the most ambitious and thought provoking action movie of all time. 

Detroit cop Alex Murphy is gunned down
by Clarence Boddicker and his evil gang in a machine gun shower of bullets and is pronounced clinically dead. 

He is restored to life as a half man/half machine vigilante by the corporation that is contracted to produce a cyborg police officer with the Detroit Police Department when a police officer was killed in the line of duty. 

Alex Murphy just so happens to be the first
one in line to be the guinea pig for law enforcement experimentation. 

Robocop is based on events which transpire after Murphy & his partner Anne Lewis, played by Nancy Allen, get too cocksure
for their own good on their very first patrol
and get seperated at a disused steel mill in
the heart of Old Detroit, Murphy is cornered
by Clarence Boddicker and his evil gang and
he's sadistically murdered in cold blood. 

The humanity of Murphy doesn't completely die after he becomes Robocop, and after his
transformation he sets about to get revenge on Boddicker and those who took part in his execution. 

Before very long Murphy does exactly that, do check out the gruesome toxic waste tank scene where Clarence Boddicker turns into
a melting and monstrous freakshow as his car crashes into it after he was trying to elude the Robocop. 

He is so fugly it's just unbelievable and the other great scene in the movie is the drug warehouse shootout as well as two other riveting scenes. 

The movie was followed by two solid but nowhere near as good sequels, go and Google Robocop if you want to see all the classic scenes in the film.
