RED ROCKER BOOKED A SPOT IN VAN HALEN WITH THIS FOOTLOOSER

Sammy Hagar, who is commonly known as the 'red rocker' has made a few appearances on Lost Treasures, the veteran american hard rocker, whose performance on the debut MONTROSE album in 1973 and the two CHICKENFOOT albums to date i rate as hard rock singing at its best, had a less than spectacular tenure in Van Halen, even if charttopping record sales would indicate otherwise.

Before joining VH in 1985 following David Lee Roth's shock departure, Hagar had ground out a solid and workmanlike body of heavy rock guitar music as a solo artist after leaving MONTROSE in 1974 following the disappointing second album PAPER MONEY.

His solo career reached an artistic zenith with the 1977 album RED and 1984's VOA, the latter featuring the brilliant Van Halen soundalike parody I CANT DRIVE 55. Around the time VOA was released the movie FOOTLOOSE was filmed, and Hagar was given a spot on the soundtrack with the great party rock anthem THE GIRL GETS AROUND.

Although Hagar kept the song in safe territory and didn't deviate away from his workmanlike approach to heavy rock guitar, which was in complete contrast to Van Halen epics like UNCHAINED and JUMP, you have to say THE GIRL GETS AROUND replicated the sound of the band he would end up joining a year later in pretty convincing fashion.
