SAMMY HAGAR IS THE PERFECT ANDIDOTE FOR ANYONE WHO USES A DAVID LEE ROTH POSTER AS A DARTBOARD

I could count the amount of times on one and a half hands when someone has requested I write something about a particular artist or band, this time around it's for someone who positively cant stand David Lee Roth (laugh).

My recent article on the original frontman in Van Halen got his hackles up just slightly, although in a very playful kind of manner. I guess the good thing about it is that the guy comes from Texas, and not Texas in Queensland.

We're talking Texas in the USA, so it must mean my blog has at least gone slightly viral (laugh).

Anyhow, he was diplomatic enough to let
me choose a song from David Lee Roth's long time nemesis, Sammy Hagar, the man who replaced Roth in VH, which personally took my fancy.

A bit bossy but at least I know some son of a gun actually has taken an interest in my blog so I guess I should be even a little flattered.

My favourite song of Sammy Hagar, if I had to choice one, would have to be this gem
off Hagar's brilliant RED album of 1977.

It come down to this song or one off his 1984 album, VOA. Wont say which song that is because it might end up being on here as well one day.

HEAVY METAL is just no-nonsense ballsy American hard rock, like you would expect from Hagar or Aerosmith in the 70's.

A classic mixture of the swagger of Montrose and the boogie of AC/DC. For all those who say that Hagar wasn't quite in the same league as Roth in the showmanship stakes, you are probably right, but now and then Hagar rocked and cranked out some great rock'n'roll.

Remember this song was recorded before Van Halen's debut, which eludes to the irony that Eddie Van Halen was actually inspired by Hagar prior to the formation of the band.

The biggest irony come about when Hagar was drafted into the band after Roth was gone.
