HOLD ON TIGHT NOW AS ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA GOES INTO CLASSIC ROCK MODE
Although this song by Electric Light Orchestra got a good amount of airplay in the eighties on australian FM radio, it seems to be long forgotten about nowadays, upstaged on all radio playlists by a lot of post grunge pop and alternative rock whose creators indirectly owe quite a deal artistically to the leader of ELO, rather ironic.
Although such comparions may seem as plausible as comparing Leadbelly and Keb Mo, it's still undeniable just what a influence Jeff Lynne was on many rock stars, even metal artists, almost as much as the in-
fluence which John Lennon was on him.
fluence which John Lennon was on him.
No doubt at all that Lynne was always a bit bogged down in the recording studio trying to be pedantic about getting each and every note flawless and go one better than the Fab Four did, but unlike the Beatles, ELO were masterful at recreating their studio polish on stage and if anything made it sound better.
ELO was around from 1970 until 1986, not counting a few reunions, Bev Bevan on
drums, Roy Woods on guitar, vocals, cello and many other instruments, as well as Richard Tandy on keyboards, synthesizer and guitars too, were the mainstays of a band which had a revolving door of bit
players coming & going from the very start.

One look on Wikepedia makes that obvious, but Wikipedia doesn't come with a You-Tube clip. Enjoy the song above HOLD ON TIGHT, the track was released in 1981, a great song i still rate as being right up there in my top twenty songs ever.
