JIMMY PAGE & CARTER-LEWIS & THE SOUTHERNERS BEEF UP SOME BILL HALEY
https://youtu.be/fNPzpqbPCCQ?si=22DfDzkyZzEZADmt
Hearing this version of the BILL HALEY rock'n'roll tune SKINNIE MINNIE today brought back to me some visions of what this website was supposed to be like at the beginning - unearthing obscure gems which are never heard on radio and are all but forgotten about.
JIMMY PAGE was a teenage session player for CARTER-LEWIS AND THE SOUTHERNERS, an English rock band out of Birmingham in the early 1960's formed by KEN LEWIS, the band's lead singer and guitarist, and JOHN CARTER, who shared some of the vocals and songwriting responsibilities as well as being the band's producer.
The future LED ZEPPELIN rock god was only with the group here and there between 1963 and 1964, but he was around long enough to add some real heavy guitar meat to this rather bland Bill Haley song, for what in mid 1964 would have passed for heavy metal.
