COLD CHISEL 'EAST' - ONE OF THE QUINESSENTIAL AUSSIE ROCK ALBUMS

No album articulated the aussie pub rock genre better than the 1980 COLD CHISEL album EAST, and it was one of the first albums which I listened to as a very young kid from start to finish. In place of the ear piercing and heavy approach of AC/DC and ROSE TATTOO who also got tagged as pub rock, although ACCA DACCA would shed that image in the 80's after BON SCOTT's death, COLD CHISEL were a mixture of eloquence and sophistication thanks to guitarist IAN MOSS's part time lead vocals and occasional bursts of aggression thanks to the lead screamer JIMMY BARNES.

However that said, the brainchild behind most of the sobering lyrics on EAST which speak of urban isolation, partying hard and drinking too much and the impacts of imprisonment, among various other highly variating themes, was the band's piano maestro DON WALKER. I wont let on about too much about the album because the point of my 'current' whole album posts is to let you find out what songs on the albums I feature and whatever else takes your fancy. This one is for my American readers really, who comprise 95% of my audience, enjoy EAST, classic aussie rock album.
