BUDDY GUY AND THE SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE BAND BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN AT LEGENDS, CHICAGO

Buddy Guy needs no introduction if you are a serious fan of Chicago electric blues. He is the last man standing amongst the greats of
the genre, his heros, such as Muddy Waters and Howlin` Wolf are of course long departed from this life, having shaped this form of the blues from its post-war infancy.

Buddy Guy might not be held in as much esteem as these 2 giants of the blues, but he`s still carved out quite a niche for himself, he is now well up in his 70`s but like B.B King has clearly proven you can still be an old fart and rock your arse until it literally drops off.

I could write dozens of articles on some of Buddy Guy`s classic rare material, but right
now, I am going to provide a summary of an album which I rate as his best, if I had to choose one.

It`s a live affair, with a Chicago house band by the name of the SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE BAND backing him and host of the show is G.E SMITH.

The album is titled BUDDY GUY LIVE, THE REAL DEAL. Released on the Silvertone label, it showcases all of Buddy Guy`s better known songs and then some, nine in total.

`DAMN RIGHT I`VE GOT THE BLUES` and `FIRST TIME I MET THE BLUES` being two classic Guy live staples, being blues a lot of emotiveness gets repeated and it might sound all the same virtually but it rocks out hard from woe to go.

He still changes his chords more than Malcolm out of AC/DC so I do think we should forgive him.

I`VE GOT MY EYES ON YOU and SWEET
BLACK ANGEL lead off the album, an obviously rapturous club crowd in Chicago only adds to the atmosphere on THE REAL DEAL.

Please excuse me for not listing the members of the Saturday Night Live Band, just go and
buy the record okay, if you like this form
of the blues you gotta like Buddy Guy.
