AND SO IT GOES - CAMERON SMITH SOLD HIS MORALITY TO JOIN THE "DARK SIDE" OF GOLF

This was a piece I wrote many weeks ago after Australian golfer Cameron Smith won the 2022 British Open, intended for but not published in the Courier Mail. Obviously now the general public knows that Smith did quit the PGA tour to join the rebel LIV tour

Aussie golfer Cameron Smith's triumph in the prestigious British Open, which is golf's "second greatest" event behind the US Masters, is already being marred by speculation that Smith is being "groomed" by none other than Greg Norman to ditch the golf tour that gave him the opportunity to win one of golf's greatest prizes. 

For all the readers who don't know, Greg Norman has betrayed the entire professional golfing fraternity by becoming the CEO of a "rebel golf tour" called LIV Golf, which has essentially been bankrolled by a hush fund set up by the Saudi Arabia regime. It's even being coined "Saudi golf". 

What planet has Norman been on for all these years? Still sour grapes I am sure after many failed attempts to win a PGA major tournament on American soil, hence his involvement in an "anti- PGA" breakaway", that he is prepared to be the CEO of LIV Golf, while remaining blissfully ignorant of the Saudi regime's appalling human rights abuses, which continue to this day. 

I hope that Cameron Smith tells Norman and LIV Golf to stick it. I hope he puts morality and decency before the lure of "bigger money" which Norman and his entourage are throwing at PGA players to entice them to switch to join the "dark side".
